Job Title: Post Graduate Engineer Trainee – Aerothermal Fluid Modeling & Simulation

At Collins Aerospace, you'll join a team that turns the physics of heat and fluid flow into the systems that keep aircraft safe, efficient, and comfortable. As a Post Graduate Engineer Trainee, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to model and simulate aerospace thermal and fluid systems from first principles -- learning the tools, methods, and engineering judgment that underpin mission-critical design. We value technical rigor, curiosity, and a drive to understand systems deeply before building them.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and refine physics-based models of aerospace thermal and fluid systems - including air management, environmental control, thermal management, and engine controls
  • Develop 1D system-level simulations using Modelica-based tools (Dymola) and MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape
  • Apply fundamentals of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics to characterize component and system behavior
  • Set up and run steady-state and transient simulations, debug convergence and numerical robustness issues, and validate predictions against test data and analytical benchmarks
  • Automate simulation workflows and post-process results using Python or similar scripting tools
  • Document modeling assumptions, methods, and results clearly for technical review

What You Will Learn:

  • Physics-based system modeling for aerospace thermal-fluid applications
  • Hands-on development with Modelica/Dymola and MATLAB-based toolchains
  • Two-phase and single-phase thermal-fluid simulation methods, correlations, and numerical solver behavior
  • Model verification and validation practices aligned with aerospace engineering standards
  • Collaboration across global engineering sites and exposure to the full breadth of P&C product lines

Qualification You Must Have:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Familiarity with at least one simulation or programming environment (Modelica, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent) is preferable
  • Experience: NA - GET/Fresher
