Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Post-Graduate Affairs Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the overall student experience by assisting with the development and support of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs in the region. This position involves coordinating events, faculty development programs, continuing medical education programs, as well as collaborating with other departments to ensure a positive and inclusive campus environment. The Post-Graduate Affairs Coordinator will work closely with DUQCOM’s Dean and Associate Deans, the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs, and staff to address student needs, promote engagement, and contribute to the development of a vibrant COM community. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs.
Assist with planning, organizing, and providing insight for the logistics of official events including the annual residency fair, resident panel discussions, student interest survey, and The National Resident Matching Program.
Coordinate student enrollment and engagement with Careers in Medicine and other advising resources.
Aid the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs in supporting our affiliated clinical partners with ACGME-approved programs and in development of new programs.
Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs, monitor student progress with applications, interviews, and probability of success in the match. Collaborate with faculty, Division Chiefs, academic advisors, and staff to identify student need and provide services, resources, and support to students before, during, and after the match.Coordinate and support the Transition to Residency course and all related content and materials including mock student interviews.
Coordinate and schedule meetings, educational activities, and outreach to associated clinical partners to promote and support GME.
Support the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs as an intake officer for scheduling guidance, assistance, and resources to meet the needs of the MS1-4 students related to career advising and the residency match.
Assist the Clinical Affairs and Post-Graduate Affairs departments in the logistics and communications to students throughout the application, interview, and residency match processes.
Aid in the process and development of curricular and co-curricular activities that relate to the residency match process.
Maintain a regular schedule of meetings with the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs and clinical partners to support their residency and fellowship program needs and to facilitate a close working relationship.
In collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs, maintain a Guidebook to Specialty Selection and the Match and other career counseling resources for students, faculty, and staff.
Monitor and report progress of student career advising meetings to the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs.
Lead and facilitate the process to secure accreditation to sponsor continuing medical education programming with the ACCME and AOA and oversee those activities and necessary documentation and processes in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs.
Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs to ensure that all COM accreditation measures for Post-Graduate Affairs and Career Counseling are met or exceeded.
Along with the Assistant Dean for Post-Graduate Affairs, represent COM’s Post-Graduate Affairs department at designated meetings such as on-campus meetings, and events as appropriate.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution is required.Willingness and ability to utilize new technologies relevant to the position.
Knowledge of, or the ability to learn internal University systems.
Experience and training in a higher education environment, with knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes but is not limited to demonstrated proficiency with current Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher as well as Outlook e-mail.
Must be able to travel as requested and necessary.PA driver’s license in good standing.
Prior experience working in graduate medical education, the healthcare field, medical education field, other student-facing positions is preferred.Alternatively, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.
