The Department of Microbiology within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to perform independent research in genome-resolved virome and microbiome informatics. The new hire would join the Sullivan Lab to develop new capabilities that would feed into the Center of Microbiome Science and it’s Microbiome Platform capabilities. The Post Doctoral Scholar is expected to lead analyses critical to the virome/microbiome research program and to take initiative in contributing to advancing community metabolic modeling in microbiomes, curate under-documented informatic workflows, and advance AI-powered analytics including new methods applications and development to augment current OSU Microbiome Platform capabilities. Duties will include tracking literature for relevant innovation opportunities in data analyses, developing science around such opportunities, communicating such resulting science via professional computational repositories, conferences/workshops and/or peer-reviewed journal publications. Towards the Center of Microbiome Science, additional duties will include contributing to Microbiome Platform capabilities, assisting with extramural funding proposals, mentoring students and supporting group activities through collaborative service work.

Qualifications

Required: Doctoral Degree in Computer Science and/or Microbiome Science or a related area required. Demonstrated experience in genome-resolved virome and/or microbiome informatics required.

Desired: Research interest in systems-level mechanistic understanding in complex communities is desired.

The pay range for this job profile is $62,232 - $63,480. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
