A post doctoral scholar position is available in Dr. Shujun Ou’s laboratory at the Department of Molecular Genetics, The Ohio State University (OSU). We are seeking a creative and innovative scholar to develop advanced genomic tools to enhance our capabilities in annotating Transposable Elements (TEs) and repetitive sequences. This includes developing novel methods to minimize false discoveries in de novo TE annotation, adapting existing TE annotation methods to cater to diverse species with varied TE landscapes, integrating cutting-edge methods to produce comprehensive TE annotations, advancing tools for pan-genome TE annotations, enhancing the computational performance and usability of existing tools. This position also writes manuscripts for scientific journals and presents findings at national/international conferences.
Minimum Education Required
PhD in a STEM field.

• Strong genomic or bioinformatic skills
• Passionate and comfortable working independently
• Good written and verbal communication skills

The pay for this job profile is $61,008. The offer for this position may vary depending on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
The postdoctoral scholar position is initially a one-year appointment, renewable for additional years, depending on performance and availability of funds.
