The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar position in the laboratory of Dr. Shuai Huang at The Ohio State University. The Huang lab of plant systems immunology focuses on the molecular and biochemical mechanisms of phase-separated assemblies in plant health and disease. There are three main directions of research in the lab: 1) systems approach for a detailed understanding of phase separation control of gene expression; 2) molecular, cellular and biochemical characterization of defense signal flow through membrane-less condensates; 3) bioengineering and synthetic approaches of immune condensates to benefit agriculture and human health. The Post Doctoral Scholar will assist in enhancing this research by designing and executing experiments, conducting data analysis, and interpreting results through reports and presentations. The Post Doctoral Scholar will also write for grant opportunities and draft manuscripts for peer-reviewed research articles. Required Qualifications

The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree by the time of hire in plant molecular biology, cell biology, plant genetics, biochemistry or a closely related field.

Desired Qualifications

Any proven experience (e.g., first-author publications) in plant molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, genetic engineering, and/or biotechnology will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in next generation sequencing and cell imaging techniques.

The Post Doctoral Scholar position is initially a one-year appointment, renewable for up to five years, depending on performance and availability of funds, and upon mutual agreement.

The pay range for this job profile is $61,008 - $65,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
