
A research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Joshua Jackson in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at Drexel University College of Medicine. The position is funded through the NIH to examine cerebral hypoperfusion in the context of aging
and Alzheimer’s disease. Our laboratory is located in center city Philadelphia in the New College Building. Our research program is focused on neuron-glial interactions, with an emphasis on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms by which astrocytes
regulate neurovascular coupling, local metabolism, and synaptic development, and brain cancer metastasis. We use a combination of molecular genetic, neuroanatomical, and imaging-based (in vitro and in vivo) approaches in rodents. The position consists of both
research and administrative work. Candidate must be well organized, detail-oriented, and a highly motivated individuals with strong interpersonal skills. In addition, the candidate should have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Previous experience
handling rodents is a strong plus. Job responsibilities will include general lab support and maintenance including, but not limited to, technical assistance with experiments, preparation of histological specimens, microscopy, animal colony maintenance, and genotyping. Administrative responsibilities will include maintenance and organization of reagents, supplies, and databases, and ensuring biosafety compliance. The optimal candidate will have a background in neuroscience, as well as a solid understanding of genetic, cell biological, biochemical, and/or molecular biology techniques. In addition, the candidate should be self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team. Opportunities to participate in independent research are available for highly motivated and capable individuals.
This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
