Job Description

ACADEMY OF MUSIC

The Academy of Music invites applications for the position of Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for a multi-year community education project. This large-scale initiative aims to broaden access to sports and music education and study its impact on underprivileged primary school students in Hong Kong.

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of a rigorous research framework to measure the project's educational and social outcomes. This role is to majorly involve in developing an evidence-based project and contributing to the scholarly work in the fields of education, creative arts, social sciences, and beyond.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (25260598)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing a robust, evidence-based outcome measurement framework for the project using various methods of research;
  • Conduct comprehensive research on the project's impact, including research design, data collection, statistical analysis, and qualitative interpretation;
  • Contribute to the writing of project reports and scholarly articles for publication in internationally refereed journals;
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team, sports and music instructors, researchers, and administrators; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the project's research objectives.

Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in related discipline;
  • Substantial experience in educational design, research methodologies, and the analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data;
  • A strong background in empirical research methods, statistics, data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata), and research measurement tools;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the capacity for scholarly publications;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to evolving project needs; and
  • Prior experience in action research, longitudinal studies, randomised controlled trials, or working with youth programs would be an advantage. Knowledge of music and sports is beneficial but not required.

The initial appointment will be offered on a contract of one year. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
