Job Description
The Wistar Institute is a world leader in early-stage discovery science in the areas of cancer, immunology, and infectious disease. Wistar is committed to accelerating research advances from bench to bedside through brilliant science and distinctive approaches to collaboration among scientific investigators and academic and industry partners. Wistar’s dynamic environment supports the advancement of discoveries that will change the future of human health.
The Wistar Institute has an opening for an ambitious and productive Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Christopher McGinnis. We seek to recruit a highly motivated candidate to study tumor-immune interactions during metastasis in breast cancer and osteosarcoma. The successful candidate will use cutting-edge technologies, including single-cell genomics, high-throughput drug screening, ex vivo tissue culture systems, and in vivo mouse models to better understand how tumors co-opt the immune system during metastasis. The long-term goal of this research is to translate basic biological insights to the development of anti-metastatic immunotherapies.
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic scientific environment with ample opportunities for interactions with leading investigators in cancer biology, tumor immunology, immunometabolism, and advanced therapeutics through programmatic funding mechanisms.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree. Applicants must have a strong background in one or more of the following disciplines: cancer biology, immunology, and molecular and/or cellular biology. Applicants with experience in metastasis biology and genomics are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Wistar Institute is located in the University City area of Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Wistar provides resources to its faculty and staff that enable them to conduct cutting edge collaborative research and provides for outstanding intellectual environments and state-of-the-art facilities. Research discoveries conducted at Wistar have led to the development of vaccines; the identification of genes associated with cancers; and the development of many other significant research technologies and tools.
We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
