Job Description

The laboratory of Dr. Murad Mamedov at The Wistar Institute is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. The Mamedov Lab uses CRISPR screens and functional genomics to understand how the human immune system detects and kills cancer cells. We focus on understanding how human γδ T cells sense cellular stress in tumors, with the goal of developing novel and broadly accessible immunotherapies.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to lead high-impact projects focused on T cell receptor (TCR) tumor ligand discovery, CRISPR screening and engineering of human γδ T cells, and T cell detection of stress-remodeled cancer cells. This work will build on and significantly expand beyond our published work on human γδ T cell recognition and killing of cancer cells (Nature, PMID: 37648854). The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following: T cell biology, cancer immunology, in vitro cancer models, genomics, or gene editing.

Candidates should be nearing completion of or already have a PhD in a relevant field (immunology, cancer biology, genetics, cell biology, and so on). Candidates should also have at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication. In addition to the online application, interested individuals should submit the following as a single PDF to Dr. Murad Mamedov (mmamedov@wistar.org): (1) CV; (2) one-page cover letter detailing scientific interest in the lab, potential interest areas for research projects, and career aspirations; and (3) contact information for three references.

We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
