
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research focused on infrastructure system resilience, risk assessment, and data-driven modeling, with particular emphasis on transportation and rail infrastructure systems. The position will involve the development and application of system-level modeling and analytical approaches to evaluate infrastructure performance, vulnerability, risk, and resilience under natural hazards, climate-related stresses, and other disruptive events.
The researcher will work with large and heterogeneous infrastructure, environmental, and climate datasets and develop computational and data-driven models to support resilience assessment and decision-making. The work may include the use and analysis of Global Climate Models (GCMs), statistically or dynamically downscaled climate projections, and other climate and hazard datasets to evaluate current and future risks to infrastructure systems.
The postdoctoral researcher will also contribute to ongoing externally funded research projects, preparation of technical reports and peer-reviewed publications, development and implementation of computational models, coordination with research collaborators and project partners, and mentoring or supporting graduate and undergraduate researchers as appropriate.
Prior research experience involving rail or transportation infrastructure system resilience is preferred but not required.
