POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE

New York University Tandon School of Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associateto work with Professor Joo H. Kim.

This individual hired in this position will be working with faculty at NYU Tandon and NYU Langone.

Expectations

The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in the area of shoulder arthroplasty (joint replacement) design, biomechanical analysis, and experiments. Research activities will include design and analysis of mechanisms for shoulder joint replacements; biomechanical modeling and its integration with shoulder joint replacement mechanisms; kinematic and dynamic analysis; development and validation of testing apparatus; and experimental testing of mechanism prototypes. The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to publish their work in high-impact journals and conferences and mentor graduate students. The position is immediately available for the duration of one year with a flexible start date and can be renewed based on performance and availability of funds.

Salary:

Salary range - In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the initial annual base salary for this position is $64,063

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in mechanical engineering or a related field. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Ideal candidates should have a strong background and/or experience with mechanisms and mechanical design, computational modeling (including finite element analysis and multibody system dynamics), kinematic and dynamic modeling and analysis of mechanical systems, biomechanics and biomechanical systems modeling, robotics, fabrication and testing of mechanisms, and applications of machine learning and AI. A strong record of publications and communication skills are also required. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
