Post Doc Research Scholar, Maryland for Community Schools (Contractual)-(260000AC)

The Post Doc Research scholar will contribute qualitative and quantitative data collection and analytical skills to support a statewide evaluation project of the Maryland for Community schools (MCCS) initiative in the state of Maryland. The scholar will be working with a team of faculty to collect and analyze publicly available and original data, conduct literature reviews, present findings, and contribute to report writing for this evaluation.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct quantitative data analysis including but not limited to regression analyses and linear modeling of administrative data that is both publicly available through the Maryland State Department of Education and data that the MCCS research team collects through its own instruments.
  • Administer qualitative data collection including interview, observations, and focus groups with community school-based staff, school district leaders, family members, students, and/or partner organizations throughout the state.
  • Collect data analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data using data analysis software; contribute to the report writing to share internally and to the Maryland State Department of Education
  • Conduct literature reviews, a summary of research in the fields of community schools, school reform, collective impact, implementation science, equitable school practices, and family and community engagement
  • Collaborate with a research team on a large evaluation project led by a team of faculty members required by the state of Maryland, including required regular meetings

  • Present research findings to the Maryland State Department of Education and/or at local and national convenings

The work hours for this position may include in-state and overnight travel.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in education, policy, sociology, or a related field

  • One year of data analysis experience, which can include experience accrued during doctoral program

  • Knowledge of data analysis software programs (i.e. Dedoos, NVIVO) or related qualitative coding software

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong research and analytical capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of community schools or the state of Maryland school system

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Salary and Benefits

Targeted hiring range is $67,000-$72,000 and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays, sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
