Job description

Agroscope is the Swiss centre of excellence for research in agriculture, nutrition and the environment. We have an opening for a motivated Post diploma student to join AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. 
Start date: July 1, 2026 (or upon agreement) 
We are looking for a dedicated individual who enjoys analyzing and integrating functional genomics data (primarily genome sequence and proteomics data, and possibly RNA-seq and Tn-seq data) and who can help us understand the mechanisms that allow bacteria to both stimulate plant growth and, in addition, inhibit the growth of harmful plant pathogens. Tasks 
  • Analysing microbial proteomics data; integration with genome information 
  • Genome assembly of bacteria using NGS data (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore Technologies) and genome annotation 
  • Help with the analysis of other OMICS data (RNA-Seq, Tn-Seq) 
  • Contribute to research projects (including publications) of the Microbial Genomics and Bioinformatics Team 
  • Maintenance & extension of data analysis pipelines (proteomics, genome assembly)


Profile requirements
  • Recently (less than 10 months ago) finished Master degree (ETH or University, FH) 
  • Motivated scientist with a background/degree in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology 
  • Excellent programming skills (Python/R); experience in the analysis of functional genomics data is a plus 
  • Strong team player with good communication skills 
  • Knowledge of (ideally) two official Swiss languages and very good command of English
