The Post Closing Settlement Specialist is responsible for the review and verification of closed loan packages to ensure that the loans are accurate, complete and compliant and in accordance with industry guidelines. In addition, this individual will perform various other administrative duties to support the residential mortgage function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews all mortgage files for proper compliance disclosures, signatures and documentation.
  • Ensures loan packages are accurate, complete, compliant, and packaged in accordance with industry guidelines.
  • Communicates with settlement agents, Mortgage Loan Officers and other counter-parties to obtain missing information and documentation for the closed loan package.
  • Delivers loan packages to our investors in a timely manner.
  • Keeps current with each investor’s requirements for loan packages.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Reviews the closing package when returned from attorney for accuracy of documentation and signatures.
  • When necessary, makes corrections to closing documents and gets corrected documents signed and processed for purpose by investors when loan is placed in a state of suspense
  • Prepares final recorded loan documentation (mortgage and final title policies) for shipment to investors.
  • Assembles all portfolio loans when returned by settlement agent and forwards to loan servicing.
  • Tracks expiration dates on all new mortgages to assure closing dates did not expire.
  • Ensures loan files are compliant and ready for regulator or examiner review.
  • Plays an active role in protecting the organization and its customers against fraud by incorporating risk awareness and prevention into daily responsibilities.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with an emphasis in business curriculum.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related positions normally required.

Skill(s)

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient PC skills; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills.
