We provide customized end-to-end chain of custody solutions for our large pharmaceutical clients and partners in academia and government, ensuring the integrity and efficacy of their valued material from the manufacturer to the bedside.

We are seeking a qualified Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant (Pharmacy Technician) to join our BioServices (ICRPMC) team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of permanent appointment.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in pharmaceutical distribution, clinical trial logistics, or warehouse operations, looking to contribute to high-impact clinical research programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will support daily operations, including:

  • Preparing and coordinating shipment documentation for pharmacist review and approval

  • Receiving, inspecting, and documenting clinical research product shipments

  • Managing storage and handling of investigational products and related materials

  • Processing site orders using inventory systems (e.g. COSMOS)

  • Packing and dispatching temperature-controlled shipments to clinical trial sites

  • Maintaining cold chain integrity (ambient, refrigerated, frozen conditions)

  • Supporting inventory control, including stock counts and system reconciliation

  • Conducting environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, storage conditions)

  • Maintaining accurate documentation, scanning, and filing systems

  • Supporting labelling operations for clinical trial materials

  • Liaise with internal teams, clinical trial sites, suppliers, and couriers

  • Support continuous compliance with SOPs, GxP standards, and training requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

  • Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification

  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in pharmaceutical distribution or wholesale environments.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Requires excellent analytical, research, written, editing, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

  • Requires skills in medical discipline, proficiency with computer word processing.

  • Requires proficiency using Internet tools to obtain technical reports from Government and other Web sites.

  • Requires ability to effectively work and communicate with staff and project personnel on technical issues.

  • Requires strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with multiple projects

Working Environment:

  • Warehouse and clinical research repository environment

  • Regular handling of temperature-sensitive materials (cold chain)

  • Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols

  • Ability to lift and move materials (up to 23kg)

  • Periodic work in cold storage environments (freezers/refrigerators)
