Job Description

About Us

ACS is where purpose, possibility and people come together. As Australia’s leading professional association for the technology community, we are strengthening the profession, creating greater value for our members and helping technology deliver a better future for Australia. We believe high performance is built on both capability and character: what you bring matters, and how you show up matters just as much. Our people bring our strategy to life by aiming high, being creative, collaborating and doing the right thing, because even the boldest strategy only succeeds when the culture behind it is strong. As the saying goes, “Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast”.

About the Role

As Portfolio Engagement Lead for Western Australia and South Australia, you will lead a two-branch regional portfolio, bringing together members, volunteers, industry and stakeholders to create meaningful outcomes for the technology profession. You will play a key role in connecting regional priorities with ACS's strategic objectives, ensuring local insights and opportunities are translated into initiatives that strengthen member value, grow engagement and amplify ACS's influence.

Leading a team of two Branch Managers, you will build capability, drive performance and foster strong relationships with Branch Executive Committees (BECs), members and senior stakeholders. You will empower volunteer-led networks to succeed while maintaining a clear focus on growth, engagement, advocacy and operational excellence. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on stakeholder engagement. You will identify opportunities to grow membership, strengthen regional partnerships, activate advocacy initiatives and improve portfolio performance. Working closely with teams across ACS, you will help ensure regional voices contribute to national conversations and influence the future direction of Australia's technology profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a two-branch portfolio by setting clear growth, engagement and advocacy priorities, monitoring performance and acting early when outcomes are off track.
  • Lead, coach and develop two Branch Managers, setting clear priorities, accountabilities and sustainable workloads.
  • Build effective relationships with Branch Executive Committees and support volunteer-led regional priorities and activities.
  • Drive professional membership acquisition, event-to-membership conversion, renewal, participation and retention across the portfolio.
  • Manage selected regional Professional Partner Program accounts, including relationship planning, retention risks, growth opportunities and internal coordination.
  • Develop relationships with priority members and industry, government and community stakeholders to generate participation, membership opportunities and advocacy input.
  • Represent ACS at relevant regional forums, events and stakeholder activities.
  • Identify regional needs, emerging issues and opportunities, and translate these insights into coordinated action across ACS.
  • Activate Be Heard campaigns by identifying credible regional voices and enabling members and stakeholders to contribute to ACS advocacy.
  • Monitor portfolio priorities, governance, reporting, risks and dependencies, escalating material matters promptly
  • Identify and implement practical improvements that strengthen branch network effectiveness and regional delivery.

About You

You are a strategic and collaborative leader with a strong track record of building trusted relationships, leading high-performing teams and delivering measurable engagement and growth outcomes. You thrive in complex, stakeholder-rich environments and can translate regional priorities and insights into coordinated action.

You bring sound judgement, clear accountability and a practical approach to continuous improvement. Confident working with employees, volunteers, members, industry and government stakeholders, you communicate with credibility, address issues constructively and focus effort on initiatives that create meaningful member and organisational value.

What You Bring

Qualifications/Work Experience/Skills

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, management, communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, portfolios or geographically dispersed operations.
  • Strong people leadership, coaching and performance management capability.
  • Experience working effectively with committees, boards, volunteers or member-led networks.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills across industry, government, community or professional environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent an organisation with credibility.
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen

Why Join ACS?

Join ACS and help shape a stronger, future-ready technology profession for Australia. You’ll be part of an ambitious and supportive team where ideas are welcomed, collaboration crosses boundaries and everyone has the opportunity to make a meaningful impact for our members and the wider technology community. We value diverse perspectives and back our people to aim high, be creative, do the right thing and keep growing, because the energy, curiosity and behaviours you bring are just as important as your expertise.
