Job Description

We’re looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join our Technology Systems Investment (TSI) Programme, a major, greenfields transformation introducing multiple new technology platforms for our regions water provider.

This is a fixed term position until July 2026 with remuneration between $93,445 and $131,922 including KiwiSaver, appointment remuneration is dependent on experience.

The Opportunity

This is not a standard PMO role. You’ll be embedded in a large, complex programme spanning 8 delivery streams, working at the centre of governance, financial performance, and delivery insight, you will ensure robust project practice can be achieved programme wide.

Day to day you will:

· Deliver clear, high-quality reporting and insights that give leaders visibility of programme health, risks, and performance.

· Support end-to-end programme financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking spend across multiple workstreams.

· Provide analysis and reporting on financial outcomes, highlighting variances, trends, and emerging cost pressures to support informed decision-making.

· Partner closely with Finance to ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with organisational processes.

· Coordinate governance processes, ensuring forums run effectively and decisions and actions are tracked and progressed.

· Maintain oversight of risks, issues, and dependencies, helping ensure they are actively managed and escalated where needed.

· Contribute to programme assurance activities, including health checks and performance monitoring.

· Help shape and embed programme management practices, tools, and standards across multiple workstreams.

· Build strong relationships across Digital, Finance, and delivery teams to ensure alignment and transparency across the programme.

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring at least 4 years’ experience working in ICT project or product delivery roles and:

  • Have a good understanding of delivery or project methodologies (ideally with Agile or Prince2 certification).

  • Great collaboration and relationship management skills, with the ability to coordinate and lead activity.

  • Broad expertise across a wide range of practice methods for digital products and service programmes.

  • Excellent planning with expertise in financial analysis, financial reporting and forecasting outcomes.

  • Great communication and collaborative competency to incorporate analysis practices within technology programmes.

  • Proficient reporting capabilities with good written and verbal communication.
