Job Description

Porter

The Porter plays an important role in maintaining the appearance of dealership vehicles and supporting daily operations across both the Sales and Service departments. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all vehicles are clean, presentable, and ready for display, delivery, or customer viewing. This includes washing, vacuuming, and basic detailing as needed.
• Move and transport vehicles safely between the sales lot, service department, customer delivery areas, and other dealership locations.
• Support the Service Department by assisting with vehicle movement, customer vehicle staging, shuttle needs, and other operational tasks as needed.
• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner and direct them to the appropriate team member.
• Organize and maintain vehicle inventory on the sales lot, ensuring vehicles are properly parked, displayed, and accessible.
• Monitor vehicle appearance and report maintenance or damage concerns to management.
• Communicate effectively with dealership team members regarding vehicle status, customer needs, and departmental priorities.
• Follow all dealership safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Service Manager.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, and SUVs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Preferred

• Prior dealership, automotive, customer service, or porter experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the dealership property.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to enter, exit, and operate vehicles safely and repeatedly throughout the day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
