At Ingerman, the Porter is responsible for the general upkeep and cleaning of property grounds, common areas, interior spaces, and offices. This includes maintaining property cleanliness and curb appeal, restoring vacated apartments to move-in condition, and preserving office, bathroom, and kitchen hygiene.

Key Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Patrols property daily to identify areas in need of cleaning and completes required work—remove trash/debris from property grounds and common areas, keep the dumpster area clean, and vacuum, sweep and mop common areas
  • Restores vacated apartments to move-in condition for new residents—clean appliances, kitchen cabinets, sink and floors, bathroom—including toilet, tub, sink and floor, windows, front door, and performs touch-up painting as necessary
  • Completes janitorial requirements in accordance with the janitorial schedule
  • Performs grounds maintenance, including weed removal, grass-cutting and planting
  • Cleans property office as necessary—empty trash, vacuum carpets, clean bathroom and kitchen
  • Coordinates snow and leaf removal from property—sidewalks, walkways, steps and driveways/parking spaces
  • Assists maintenance technicians in performing preventive maintenance, capital improvements or satisfying work orders as needed

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year of general maintenance experience in preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations is preferred
  • Must be able to work a flex schedule and be on-call for emergencies on weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Requires the ability to read, speak and comprehend the English language
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment

Requirements

  • ANSI approved steel-toe/composite shoes
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Willing to assist with other properties within the portfolio and surrounding portfolios as needed
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time
