Scale Operator
Location: 50 Taylor Boulevard, Port Perry, Ontario
Position Type: Contract Part-Time
Reporting To: Site Supervisor
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8am-5pm
Compensation: $22.44 per hour

The Scale Operator at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the safe and efficient weighing of vehicles, accurate ticket creation, and cash transactions. This role supports public health by ensuring timely service, adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and respectful interaction with the community.

Responsibilities:
In the position of Scale Operator, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
• The weighing of vehicles IN and OUT at a reasonable pace to ensure accuracy of tickets and cash transactions.
• You will be required to do Cash, Debit and credit card transactions, retail experience preferred.
• You will review all tickets, cash register and global payments receipts to ensure they are correct and assist with paperwork as required, Answer telephone enquiries, take orders and direct calls.
• Providing exceptional customer service.
• Knowledge of and practical skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), strong PC based systems knowledge; with excellent keyboarding skills.
• You will be required to fill in for any vacations or sick calls.
• Ensure you are aware of and always work within MWS’s safety Guidelines/Health and Safety Regulations/Policies.
• Liaise with other supervisors, drivers, contractors and staff in a professional and team-oriented manner.
• Highly developed organizational and team building skills.
Competencies & Qualifications:
• Proven experience answering and directing phone calls in a professional manner.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
• Experience with accurate and efficient data entry.
• Familiarity with billing processes, including invoicing and payment handling.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• You may be required to work extended hours.

Escarpment Renewables is Miller’s Class 3 wet anaerobic digestion facility in Grimsby, Ontario where we convert organic waste into a CFIA-certified liquid fertilizer for local agricultural partners and renewable heat and electricity for the Ontario power grid.
