Mission

To manage the Operations, Logistics, Transshipment, Cargo Operations and M&R departments throughout the Indian Ocean Cluster, ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance with CMA CGM standards.

Key Role Characteristics

Fully accountable, in close coordination with the respective Country General Managers, for:

Vessel Operations

Logistics and M&R

Transshipments

Cargo Operations

To drive process improvement across Operations, Logistics, Transshipment and Cargo Operations by continuously enhancing tools, methods and systems through Process Excellence principles.

Team & Stakeholder Management

Fully accountable for the management of Operations & Logistics teams across all countries of the Cluster.

Ensure strong cooperation:

Within Operations & Logistics teams

Between Operations & Logistics and other internal departments (Customer Care, Sales, Finance, Business Development, IT, Top Management)

With external stakeholders (ports, terminals, authorities, suppliers), in coordination with Country General Managers

Ensure regular coaching and performance follow-up of team members.

Supervise daily activities of Operations Agents, Logistics Agents, Transshipment Agents and Cargo Operations Agents.

Act as operational backup during staff leave when required.

Operational Responsibilities
Vessel & Port Operations

Provide daily, weekly and monthly updates to management and RO on port activities and events.
Ensure optimal vessel productivity and turnaround time.
Ensure participation in daily port meetings and coordination with terminal management.
Monitor loading and discharge activities in coordination with Cargo Flow HO/RO.
Liaise with ship planners to ensure load plans are respected.
Ensure all PCR (Port of Call Reports) are closed on time with high data quality.
Ensure inward and outward vessel clearance with port, customs and immigration authorities.

Systems & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with CMA CGM systems: MACS3, LARA, LARA CARGO and all Operations & Logistics tools.
Promote optimal use of EDI tools across the Cluster.
Ensure IMDG cargo compliance with IMO regulations.

Cost & Performance Control

Adopt a strong “Cost Maniac” mindset and drive cost-saving initiatives.
Monitor port and logistics invoices and ensure proper documentation.
Control and optimize Logistics and M&R expenses.
Re-negotiate contracts with depots, trucking companies and logistics providers.
Reduce idle containers and optimize equipment flow.
Monitor all logistics KPIs as set by HO.

Cargo & Equipment Management

Avoid 100% cargo shut-outs for export/transshipment.
Ensure damages during cargo operations are properly reported and sent to Claims.
Ensure equipment availability and fleet optimization.

Strategic & Business Responsibilities

Formulate business requirements and enhance operational systems and procedures.
Provide recommendations for service improvements using performance evaluation metrics.
Set and implement strategic policies for equipment flow optimization and commercial benefit.
Ensure national requirements align with CMA CGM Group strategy.

Key Objectives

Ensure optimum productivity of vessel operations at minimum cost.
Ensure effective logistics and equipment control.
Ensure transshipment and cargo operations effectiveness.
Protect and enhance CMA CGM Group’s image.
Ensure all operational systems are used at optimal level.

Measurements
Monthly KPIs provided by HO/RO.
Annual performance review during January appraisal.

Operations, Logistics, Transshipment and Cargo systems – Advanced
Microsoft Office – Advanced
IMDG Code – Certified
