NPL now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Capital and Projects as Supervisor, Senior – Construction Projects (241628)

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent – Construction Projects, the Supervisor, Senior - Construction Projects is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, execution, and successful delivery of construction and community infrastructure projects within the New Porgera Limited (NPL) operational area. The position provides leadership and technical supervision for construction activities, contractors, and project resources to ensure all works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with engineering standards, statutory regulations, and NPL operational requirements.

The incumbent plays a key role in driving continuous improvement in project execution, safety performance, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement while supporting NPL's commitment to sustainable development and community investment.

In this role, you will:


 Supervise day-to-day construction activities across multiple project sites within the mine
 Development of project execution plan
 Development and compliance with engineering SOW and specification
 Health, Safety, Security and Environmental management, including rigorous use of JSA and SWP
 Development / implementation of project change management procedure
 Compile and manage work schedules and budgets for all aspects of the project
 Management of earthmoving, civil, structural and other specialized contractors
 Report writing and cost variance reporting
 Conduct regular site inspections, safety briefings, and toolbox talks
 Demobilization of construction resources and equipment
 Implement and manage a project stock reduction plan
 Coordinate and monitor contractors, subcontractors, and in-house teams
 Ensure construction works meet engineering specifications, timelines, and site safety standards
 Liaise with project engineers, planners, and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials and resources
 Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices
 Maintain accurate records of progress, safety incidents, and project documentation
 Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements, and all recommended corrective actions are completed
 Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Policy and all related rules and procedures


About You

 Recognized tertiary Degree qualifications in Engineer, Building Construction, or equivalent are desirable, in addition to the key skills and experience
 Minimum five (5) years' experience in construction supervision.
 Previous experience in a large-scale mining operation.
 Experience managing medium-scale construction projects.
 Experience delivering community infrastructure projects.
 Proven experience supervising contractors and construction workforces.
 Demonstrated experience within mining, infrastructure, civil construction, or heavy industry environments.
 Strong planning and scheduling experience.
 Current PNG Driver's License Class 6.
 Project Management certification.
 Contractor Management training.
 Occupational Health and Safety qualifications.
 Strong understanding of construction methodologies, safety standards, and regulatory compliance
 Excellent communication (both oral and written), negotiation and interpersonal skills
 Advanced level skills utilizing Microsoft Office programs, in particular Word and Excel, PowerPoint and MS Projects
 Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate and address project-related challenges

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
