Job Description

The Technician is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance and repair duties across the property to ensure all facilities, equipment, and systems are functional, safe, and well-maintained. This role supports the Engineering Department in routine upkeep, troubleshooting, and emergency repair services to maintain optimal operations and guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide friendly, prompt, and professional service to guests and team members.
  • Conduct routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on facility equipment and property systems.
  • Repair or replace broken equipment and fixtures throughout the property as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, complying with all safety protocols.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and repairs involving electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform general property maintenance including furniture repair, door adjustments, light fixture replacements, and minor construction tasks.
  • Safely handle and utilize chemicals, including those used for pool maintenance, while following appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
  • Test pool and spa water to maintain correct chlorine, pH, and alkalinity levels; log and respond to abnormal readings.
  • Maintain and repair pool and spa filtration systems, including skimmer and pump baskets, jets, valves, and tile.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), MSDS compliance, hazard communication, and proper PPE usage.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic knowledge of building systems and repair practices, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment related to general facility upkeep.
  • Understanding of workplace safety requirements, including chemical handling and emergency response.
  • Strong communication skills; able to follow directions and communicate effectively via two-way radios.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team while maintaining a focus on safety and service quality.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical or vocational training in a maintenance-related trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in general maintenance, repair, or a technical trade required.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and the ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Prior experience in a commercial, hospitality, or facilities environment preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts, carries, and moves tools, parts, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; may assist with heavier items using carts or team lifting techniques.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic devices, and control systems; must perform technical repairs and installations with precision.
  • Mobility: Frequently walks, climbs ladders, bends, kneels, crouches, and crawls to access mechanical areas, equipment, and tight spaces; must be able to perform tasks in a variety of physical positions and environments.
  • Stationary Work: Occasionally remains seated to complete documentation, review service manuals, or input data into computerized systems.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of maintenance tools, diagnostic instruments, electronic testing devices, computers, and lifts; responsible for proper handling and safe operation of all tools and equipment.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires strong near and far vision, depth perception, and the ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment displays; must be able to identify mechanical or electronic faults accurately.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely works in mechanical rooms, utility spaces, and operational areas both indoors and outdoors; exposed to loud noise, high and low temperatures, moving machinery, dust, chemicals, electrical systems, and a smoking environment in or near the casino or public areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.

WORKING HOURS:

Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
