WORK ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
Waukesha County Department of Health & Human Services is recruiting for Pool Clinical Therapist positions (may underfill as Senior Mental Health Counselor). The Clinical Therapist will have a primary job assignment on the Waukesha County Crisis Intervention Services Team and will provide mobile crisis intervention services. The Clinical Therapist would be expected to work a minimum of three eight-hour weekend shifts per month. The needed shift coverage times for the position available are primarily weekend midday, evening, and overnight hours. A minimum of three holiday shifts per year are also required. There may be an occasional need to fill weekday shifts.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Waukesha County Crisis Intervention Services is a State Certified DHS 34 program that supports individuals across the lifespan who may be experiencing a mental health emergency or may be at risk of a mental health emergency. Crisis intervention services seeks to provide person-centered and strength-based interventions that utilize the least restrictive means necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of persons experiencing mental health or behavioral health crisis. Mobile crisis services are provided 24/7 including weekends and holidays. Shift times may need to adjust to meet program needs. Flexibility in scheduling of crisis staff may be considered.
The department may choose to underfill this position as a Senior Mental Health Counselor.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements for Clinical Therapist:
1. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a master's degree in psychology (clinical, counseling, educational,) counseling and guidance, social work or closely related area.
2. Candidates must have Advanced Practice Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor in Training, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Training, status as a minimum.
3. Two (2) years of post bachelor work experience in psychology (clinical, counseling, educational), counseling and guidance, social work or closely related area.
The department may choose to underfill this position as a Senior Mental Health Counselor.

The 2026 salary range for Senior Mental Health Counselor is: $30.32 to $42.11
Senior Mental Health Counselor candidates must meet these minimum Training and Experience requirements:
1) Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with a major in sociology, social work, psychology or a closely related field [AND] Two (2) years of professional experience in the field of mental health including one thousand (1000) hours of experience delivering services to the chronically mentally ill and their families.
-OR-
2) Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with at least four (4) courses in sociology, social work, or psychology [AND] Three (3) years of professional experience in the field of mental health including one thousand (1000) hours of experience delivering services to the chronically mentally ill and their families.
3) A master's degree from a recognized college or university in sociology, social work, psychology, or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
