Job Description
The Pool Attendant position is intended to support orderly use of the pool and spa amenities during higher-demand periods, improve cleanliness and appearance, promote compliance with existing Association rules, and provide timely documentation and reporting of incidents or violations observed onsite.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible and professional presence in the pool and spa area during assigned hours.
- Monitor amenity use for compliance with posted rules and provide courteous verbal reminders when minor rule violations are observed.
- Observe and report unauthorized conduct including, by way of example, glass containers, food or drink in the water, smoking or vaping, amplified or audible personal music, use of prohibited sports balls or flotation items, furniture or cabana reservation attempts, and excessive or disruptive gatherings.
- Monitor guest access procedures established by the Association and request verification of resident/guest status only in the manner directed by management.
- Watch for nonresident use, repeated guest abuse, gate propping, or other access-control concerns and report them promptly.
- Keep pool furniture reasonably organized and return chairs, lounges, tables, umbrellas, and similar items to their intended arrangement when feasible.
- Lower or secure umbrellas at shift end or when weather conditions warrant.
- Perform light tidiness checks of the restrooms and pool deck, including trash pickup, basic straightening, and prompt reporting of overflow, vandalism, odor, suspected drug use, plumbing issues, or janitorial needs.
- Promptly report safety concerns, property damage, bodily injury incidents, suspicious conduct, lewd conduct, trespass concerns, or suspected criminal activity to management and, when directed by policy or emergency conditions, to 911 or law enforcement.
- Complete an incident log for all material observations, resident complaints, warnings issued, facility issues, and unusual activity during the shift.
- Advise management when supplies are low, trash capacity is exceeded, furniture is damaged, signage is missing, or any pool rule needs clearer posting or enforcement support.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior customer service, hospitality, amenity attendant, clubhouse, recreation, or comparable site-monitoring experience preferred.
- Comfort working outdoors in heat, humidity, and variable weather conditions.
- Professional communication skills, reliable attendance, sound judgment, and ability to de-escalate routine disagreements verbally.
- Basic familiarity with smartphones or tablets sufficient to complete incident logs, photographs, checklists, and text/email reporting as directed.
- CPR / AED / First Aid training preferred, but lifeguard certification is not required unless separately mandated by the Association’s insurer or management company.
Safety Equipment (may/may not include):
- Protective Gloves and Glasses when using hazardous materials when cleaning the pool (Must be CPO Certified).
- Anti-Slip Shoes
- Sun Protection
Working Conditions:
The majority of work will be completed outdoors in a non-temperature controlled environment with moderate noise levels.
