Contractor Role: MES (POMSnet) Recipe Author Position Summary The POMSnet Recipe Author Contractor will support the development, configuration, testing, deployment, and maintenance of manufacturing recipes within the POMSnet Manufacturing Execution System (MES) at our Waco, Texas site. The contractor will work closely with process engineers, MES leads, validation teams, quality, and site manufacturing personnel to translate manufacturing processes into executable electronic batch records and MES recipes. This role is responsible for authoring and modifying recipes, supporting testing activities, troubleshooting recipe execution issues, and ensuring compliance with company standards, validation requirements, and site procedures. The ideal candidate is a seasoned POMSnet Recipe Author with 3-5 years of MES experience and at least 3 years of recent, hands-on POMSnet expertise. They should have experience working in pharmaceutical GMP environments, be comfortable modifying and troubleshooting recipes within POMSnet, and be capable of writing test scripts with minimal oversight. Aquila experience, SAP integration knowledge, and familiarity with validation processes are highly desirable. Most importantly, the candidate must be able to hit the ground running immediately, as the team does not have the bandwidth to train someone on the POMSnet platform. Key Responsibilities Recipe Development & Configuration Author, modify, and maintain POMSnet manufacturing recipes and associated MES objects. Build and configure: o Recipes o Unit Procedures o Operations o Phases o Equipment and material control logic o Recipe parameters and calculations o BOM and equipment references Translate process descriptions, batch records, and technical specifications into MES recipe functionality. Ensure recipe structures align with site standards and approved design specifications. Testing & Validation Support Write and Execute unit testing and integration testing of recipe changes. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), PQ, and deployment activities. Investigate and resolve defects identified during testing and validation. Collaborate with validation resources to ensure documentation is complete and traceable. Deployment & Hypercare Support Support recipe migrations across Pilot, PQ, and Production environments. Participate in site go-live preparation and deployment activities. Provide operational support during hypercare periods. Troubleshoot recipe execution issues and implement approved corrections. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to standardize and simplify recipe design. Support reusable recipe template development. Works under direction of MES Lead. Supports multiple projects including new product introductions, site deployments, recipe remediation, and continuous improvement initiatives. May participate in off-hours deployment and hypercare activities as required. Key Hiring Manager Clarifications One of the most important takeaways from the qualification call was Shannon's emphasis on the requirement for direct POMSnet experience. Several suppliers asked whether candidates with experience on other MES platforms could be considered, but Shannon made it clear that POMSnet expertise is mandatory. Due to the short duration of the engagement and the workload facing the team, there is no capacity to train someone on the fundamentals of the platform. As a result, candidates with MES experience alone, but without POMSnet experience, will not be considered competitive for the role. Shannon also clarified that the majority of the work will involve modifying existing recipes, updating manufacturing worksheets, supporting SAP-driven changes, and troubleshooting recipe functionality. Although some new recipe development may occur, the role is primarily focused on enhancing and maintaining existing manufacturing processes rather than building entirely new recipes from scratch. Additionally, pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is highly desirable. While the Waco site itself is not a biologics facility, familiarity with GMP practices and regulated manufacturing processes is important because of the site's audit requirements, compliance obligations, and quality standards.
