Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sales Specialist in Dow Polyurethanes (Dow PU), located in Tokyo, Japan. Dow PU is now looking for an individual who can work with the team and contribute to the sales growth and its acceleration. This job is an account management on both direct customers and distributors responsible for the sales & relationship management to deliver the sales plan in alignment with the business plan. This includes generating leads, managing sales analytics, and fixing the technical problem of a customer. You are also expected to understand customer’s unmet needs and develop the mid-term business milestones with internal stakeholders.

Dow Polyurethanes in Japan

Japan is a key country for Dow PU market segments such as Automotive, Infrastructure & Construction, Furniture & Bedding, Home & Personal Care and Agriculture and so on. We are serving to these segments with the robust product mix such as Propylene Glycols, Polyols, Isocyanates, Polyurethane Systems and Agro-chemicals. Dow PU Japan team also supports Japanese OEM/Tier businesses around the world not limited to Japan.

Responsibilities / Duties

• Account management on new/existing customers and distributors to deliver the sales target
• Develop and execute account plans with the growth milestone for the key markets/customers/products with product, marketing, supply chain and other related functions
• Understand the customer needs/unmet needs and identify new business opportunities at new/existing customers or cross-selling areas for growth
• Gather and share industry movement, market dynamics, competitors’ activities with sales/product/marketing team and R&D/TS&D team for the business management
• Lead the project execution and drive strategy implementation in the face of ambiguity
• Manage and address internal/customers’ conflicts, issues and trouble-shooting
• Value chain management from downstream end-users to upstream
• Document key development progress and learning experiences
• Leads and conducts negotiations and develops and implements price strategies aligned with business goals considering legal implications, customs regulations and Dow sales processes
• Collaborates with other functions and stakeholders to enhance CX results

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Native & business level in Japanese written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent in English written and verbal communication skills
• Availability for frequent travel (mostly domestic)
• Communication skill and the ability to build networks/influence inside/outside the company
• Strong initiative, ownership, accountability, passion and proactive working attitude
• Good inter-personal skill and team player, yet able to work independently and take the lead
• Competency to successfully function within a multicultural team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Chemical or Polyurethanes industry
• Experience in solid commercial and sales & account management for 5+ years
• Experience in leading functional groups or project management

This position does not offer relocation assistance.

• A minimum requirement for this Japan based position is the ability to work legally in Japan. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of Japan permanent residency process.
