
The Sleep Technician performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Polysomnographic Technologist and/or the Laboratory Manager. A Sleep Technician has demonstrated competence in the performance of duties as a trainee over a period of 12 months continuous service. A Sleep Technician can provide supervision of a polysomnographic trainee.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and clinically proficient Polysomnographic Technician to join our sleep diagnostics team, situated within Macquarie University Hospital. In this role, you will perform comprehensive sleep studies, including setup, data acquisition, and real-time analysis, while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Working largely autonomously under the guidance of a Lead Technologist and/or Lab Manager, you will apply your 12+ months of experience to deliver high-quality diagnostic data and therapeutic interventions.
As a mid-level professional, you will also play a key role in the growth of our sleep unit service by supervising and mentoring future Polysomnographic Trainees. The Polysomnographic Technician is the "eyes and ears" of the sleep physician. Your ability to ensure patient safety, capture clean data and respond to physiological changes during the night is the critical link between a patient’s undiagnosed sleep disorder and a life-changing treatment plan.
