Position Summary:
The Department of Political Science and Public Affairs seeks to appoint a full-time, temporary one year faculty member for the Master of Public Administration program. The Department of Political Science at the University of Central Oklahoma is committed to recruiting and maintaining a diverse faculty and to creating a welcoming environment for all.

Overview:
This position is a full-time, temporary one-year position in Public Administration in the Department of Political Science and Public Affairs. Duties of the successful candidate include:
•Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies.
•Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university.
•Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers.
•Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty.
•Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested.
•Prepares departmental reports as requested.
The Master of Public Administration (MPA), as a graduate program, has been an affiliate of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Administration and Affairs (NASPAA) since 2013. The program has been commended and recognized by outside evaluators for excellence in public service education and commitment to creating an inclusive environment. In September 2021, NASPAA accredited the MPA program with commendations.
The Department of Political Science and Public Affairs, the location of the MPA program, develops leadership qualities in students, thus expanding the scope of their career opportunities. The institution's educational emphasis is on faculty mentorship in student-centered education, with a commitment that respects equity and diversity through the provision of professional training, leadership development and graduate education.
Position:
Departmental faculty work in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. A typical class load is four classes per semester.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaches political science and public administration courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Must be willing to teach in a variety of instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, and online) as needed and appropriate. Advises and mentors students; engages in service on the department, college, and university levels.
Experience Required:
Applicants should have an earned doctorate, such as a Ph.D., D.P.A., and/or J.D., in any sub-field related to public administration, political science, or similar field. The degree must be from a regionally accredited or an internationally recognized institution (exceptions require approval from the UCO Office of Academic Affairs). Applicants should possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
