The primary duty of the Buffer/Polisher is to mechanically refine metal surfaces, ensuring a smooth finish that aligns with established quality benchmarks. Tasked with utilizing polishing wheels, abrasive compounds, and various handheld instruments, the individual in this role eliminates oxidation, scratches, and other surface defects from workpieces.
Interpret and execute work from detailed engineering drawings, complex blueprints, tooling instructions, and standard charts to ensure accurate dimensions and tolerances.
Configure and manually control buffing and polishing machinery.
Select appropriate tooling based on material properties and specifications to reach the required product finish.
Safely and efficiently utilize hand tools as required by the task.
Manage the operation of material handling equipment, including forklifts, hand-trucks, and overhead cranes.
Identify and address operational issues, suggesting improvements or corrective actions for departmental process failures.
