Job Description: This non-sworn trainee classification works under close supervision participating in training work leading to progressively responsible tasks in several areas of the Police Department, including, but not limited to Parking/Traffic Enforcement and Investigative Services.

This position reports to Police Services Supervisors or other Police supervisors or managers, depending on assignment.

Cyber Security

An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience working in a public safety agency is desirable.
Valid Class C California Driver’s License is required.

A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all finalists, which will review and verify personal history including, but not limited to, financial responsibility, criminal history, drug use history, driving record, and verification of application materials. Work may be performed outside in a variety of field and weather conditions or indoors in an office setting or confined quarters.
Work is performed on a 24-hour rotating shift.
Weekend or holiday work may be required.
Emergency response may be required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Incumbents multitask in a fast-paced working environment and must remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.

PRELIMINARY BACKGROUND QUESTIONAIRE: (PASS/FAIL) To determine whether the candidate meets the background investigation standards of the Glendale Police Department. May be waived if candidate currently works for the Glendale Police Department.
WRITTEN EXAM: (Pass/Fail) To evaluate the applicant’s ability to be successful in this position.
ORAL INTERVIEW: (Weight of 100%)To evaluate the applicant's experience, education, and general background for the position. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70.00% on the oral interview in order to be placed on the eligible list.

TIME AND PLACE OF THE EXAMINATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED. Evaluations will be based on the candidate's education and experience relevant to the position. Examinations will assess evaluate the candidate's education, experience, knowledge and skills related to the job. The City of Glendale reserves the right to modify the examination components or their weighting. If changes are necessary, candidates will be informed of the specific examination components and their weight before the examination is administered. The selected candidate will undergo a background check, including Livescan fingerprinting.
