Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides shift leadership and direction for the University Health (UHS) Department of Protective Services function at designated facility(s). Manages daily shift operations and is responsible for administrative and supervisory enforcement duties involving general and criminal regulations and institutional rules. Provides for the protection, safety and welfare of patients, visitors, staff, physicians and property within the areas under the control and jurisdiction of University Health. Promotes the University Health Guest Relations policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Associates or Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited college, or 3 of years police officer experience in lieu of college,. Successful completion of the Texas Peace Officer’s Training course approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) is required. Basic certification by TCOLE is required. Mental Health Officer and Intermediate Peace Officer certification or higher is preferred. Three years experience as a police officer, including military and/or federal law enforcement, experience is required. Police Officer experience in a hospital or ambulatory care service is preferred. Candidates must have completed or be able to complete within 180 days of being assigned to this position TCOLE Course 3737 (New Supervisor – First Line).

LICENSURE

A current license as a Texas Peace Officer is required. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers' License and clean driving record.
