This position will be responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, protecting the community, responding to criminal activities, and ensuring the well-being of individuals and property within the County jurisdiction.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a high school diploma or GED. ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer Scores are required if no college degree has been obtained. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be a United States Citizen or have a Naturalization Certification. Must have an honorable or uncharacterized discharge from the military (if applicable). Must obtain a GA POST Certification within 12 months of employment (if not already certified). Pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT) before employment. Non-certified applicants must pass the GA POST PAT within 30 days of starting the academy. Pass a psychological evaluation, physical exam, and drug screening before employment. No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude, domestic violence, or related offenses. Must be at least 21 years old (upon completion of the academy).
The starting salary for a non-certified officer is $52,000.

Manager form of government. The County provides a full range of services extending beyond those provided by many other counties in Georgia. Services provided include public safety (police and fire protection,
emergency management, animal control, and jail operations); the construction and maintenance of highways, streets, and infrastructure; zoning and code enforcement; court‐related functions; recreational activities and cultural events; tax appraisal and administration; general administrative services; and outside agency support. The area is easily accessible via Interstate‐95, US Route 17, US Route 82 & US Route 341, as well as two airports (Brunswick Golden Isles Airport and McKinnon Saint Simons Island Airport).
