Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana (SUSLA) is one of five campuses within the Southern University System, the nation’s only historically Black university system. SUSLA serves approximately 3,180 undergraduate students and employs over 400 full- and part-time faculty and staff.
Located on more than 100 acres on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, the university offers 33 undergraduate degree programs and awards approximately 350 degrees annually.
In addition to the main campus, SUSLA operates the Southern University at Shreveport Downtown Metro Center, which provides advanced allied health programs, and the Southern University at Shreveport Aerospace Technology Center located at the Shreveport Downtown Airport, home to FAA-approved aerospace technology and maintenance programs.
The Southern University Police Department is seeking driven applicants who are ready to begin or advance their career in a campus law enforcement enviroment. Join a team dedicated to protecting the university community while developing valuable law enforcement skills in a dynamic campus enviroment.
No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Compensation: The Police Officer 1 offers a entrance rate of $35,000 annually. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
