Job Description

Education/Certification Required:

  • High School graduate or G.E.D.

Experience Required:

  • One year as police dispatcher or security/fire alarm dispatcher.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to operate two-way radio system, personal computer, printer, and fax machine.

Technology Proficiency: Level 2 � Applied (use of)

  • Computer operations

Function

Responsible for the receiving and dispatching of calls for police service. Also responsible for the monitoring of the District's fire and security systems.

Reports To:

the Chief of Police or his/her designee.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and dispatch calls for police service.
  • Handle requests for criminal histories, wanted information, vehicle registration information, and other law enforcement related requests for information.
  • Maintain required logs related to requests for information.
  • Operate the computer aided dispatch system (CAD).
  • Receives all incoming security/fire alarm signals to Central Station.
  • Interprets code and take appropriate action to dispatch fire department, police, security, or CCISD personnel to location.
  • Receives trouble calls in system and develop work orders for service technicians.
  • Monitors all openings and closings of schools to determine if there is a breach in the system
  • Receives calls and responds to complaints regarding security/fire alarm system.
  • Maintains logs and summaries to track security/fire alarm activity.
  • Maintains all files and documentation of incoming signals.
  • Directs technicians to emergency service calls of security/fire alarm systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or his/her designee.
