Job Description

The Police Desk Clerk uses his/her multitasking skills to independently and often simultaneously handle a high volume of incoming calls, including some emergency calls; interact face to face with visitors and police in order to provide information; and accurately input police reports and other data at the Directorate of Emergency (DES) Emergency Communication Center in the Military police Station located in Fort Benning, Georgia

This position is on a federal contract that requires that most of the work hours are performed by employees with disabilities. Due to program requirements, this particular position must be filled by a person with a disability.

Essential Duties:

· Answer multi-line telephone switchboard and process calls in a timely manner, including the proper escalation of any emergency calls.

· Dispatch calls received to the correct recipients.

· Take accurate messages to be given to correct recipients.

· Greet visitors and provide information as necessary.

· Accurately maintain the police journal.

· Receive and process walk-in-complaints.

· Process police reports.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent job experience that indicates the capacity to multitask with accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Experience/Skills:

· Professional and courteous telephone etiquette skills.

· Ability to prepare clear and factually accurate reports.

· Basic understanding of PCs and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Proven oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Detail oriented.

· Excellent customer service skills.

· Professional and confident helping skills.

· Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Other Requirements:

· Two or more years’ experience in a related position.

· Ability to possess or obtain applicable security clearance.

· Ability to type a minimum of 60 wpm.

· Ability to speak, read, and understands English.

· Prefer NCIC Certified

· Must be able to work any shift of varying duration when needed

Physical Demands:

· Must be able to work flexible shift schedule.

· Will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

· Work activity may include prolonged periods of time sitting.
