Summary

The Police Chief provides strategic leadership and overall direction for the City’s Police Department, overseeing operations, personnel, policies, programs, and resources to promote a safe and secure community. The position establishes departmental goals, manages the budget, coordinates with law enforcement and community partners, and communicates on public safety matters. The Chief also serves on the City’s senior management team and as the City’s Emergency Management Director.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Police Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred. Candidates must have eight years of progressive law enforcement experience as a licensed police officer, including at least four years in a supervisory capacity; command experience is preferred. A valid Minnesota Police Officer (POST) License and Minnesota Class D Driver’s License are also required.
