Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs.

Pinecrest Supports & Services Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Police Captainto join our Pinecrest team. This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of the Pinecrest Police Department.

Five years of law enforcement experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.

An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the directing and coordinating the daily operations of the Pinecrest Police Department. Enforce laws, investigate crimes and accidents, provide emergency services, and design and implement a Pinecrest Police Department community policing program.
  • Manage subordinates leave and overtime within the department across shifts and teams (A/B) up to and provide direct Police services if other staffing options fail.
  • Review Pinecrest Police incident reports, vehicle search reports, missing/damaged property reports, vehicle accident reports, and other reports generated by subordinate employees and present them to Administration as appropriate, based on type and content of report.
  • Develop, plan, implement, and report on outcomes of a strategic plan for the Pinecrest Police Department, which supports the overarching facility strategic plan.
  • Write and implement procedures for the Pinecrest Police department in compliance with facility standards for development and revision of such procedures.
  • Ensure Pinecrest Police Department's timely and efficient participation in the facility's Defensive Driving Program, Safety Program, Authorized Driver's Program, CPI Program, Loss Prevention Program, and other facility programs in which Pinecrest Police have responsibility.
  • Train subordinate employees in policies and procedures, report writing, vehicle searches, searches of persons, traffic control, CPI, and detaining individuals pending arrival of local law enforcement entities to execute arrest warrants. Conduct Pinecrest Police orientation in Staff training for all new hires
  • Responsible for coordinating activities with other law enforcement agencies. Establish and maintain good working relationships with other law enforcement agency that may call upon the Pinecrest Police Department and/or be called upon.

Position-Specific Details:

Department: LDH Pinecrest – Police Dept.

SHIFT: 8:00AM – 4:30 PM Pass Days: Sat. & Sun.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Detail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, Demotion Job Appointment, or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

This position receives hazard duty pay of $ 2.00 per hour.

Police Caption — $28.91hr. – $58.52hr.
