Job Description

We’re more than just a water company. We're dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment, sustainability, and the communities we serve. By joining us, you’ll work with the latest technologies, driving forward-thinking projects that enhance and protect national infrastructure, making a real difference to the communities we serve.

With nearly 10,000 colleagues, we're looking for more brilliant people who are passionate about sustainability, eager to innovate, and ready to turn challenges into opportunities for a better future.

LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

We’re looking for a talented PMO Project Planner to play a pivotal role in delivering our SRO RAPID and Major Projects programme - shaping nationally significant water infrastructure for the future.

As part of a high-performing PMO, you’ll lead the development, integration and oversight of project and programme plans, providing the insight and control needed to keep complex projects on track and delivering against critical business objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with Project Delivery teams, SRO Technical specialists and external partners, driving a consistent, high-quality approach to planning and scheduling across this strategically important, regulated programme.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain integrated project and programme schedules for SRO Major Projects, including critical path, recovery and contingency planning
  • Embed PMO planning standards, governance and controls, ensuring consistent application across complex, multi-supplier environments
  • Integrate supplier schedules into a single, aligned master programme to support delivery of RAPID-regulated schemes
  • Monitor performance against plan, analyse variances and proactively identify risks to milestones, critical path and programme outcomes
  • Produce clear, tailored reporting (graphical, written and data-driven) to support project, programme and portfolio decision-making
  • Support resource planning, change control and impact assessment, identifying risks and opportunities across the programme
  • Ensure full alignment with RAPID / Ofwat Major Projects gate requirements and associated governance

You'll be based at our  Head Office in Coventry. You’ll work within our PMO team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience in project and programme planning within a PMO environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
  • Advanced Excel capability, with experience producing analysis and insight reports
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, complex programme or major project environments
  • Confident communicator, able to challenge teams and suppliers constructively
  • Good understanding of project controls, scheduling, and commercial awareness
  • Full U.K driving licence

Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome and celebrate diverse individuals, knowing they help us better serve our communities. We seek people who get involved, want to be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.

About Severn Trent

Water is wonderful. Without it we’d be lost. With it, everything’s possible. For every toothbrush, for every loo flushed. For the hot showers, the cool drinks, the cups of tea. But it’s not just at the heart of our homes. It’s at the heart of everything; our schools, our businesses, our hospitals. Saving lives, helping communities thrive.

We’re Severn Trent, a diverse and amazing group of people who want to keep it that way. We bring you clean water and we take it away safely too. But it’s not just what we do. It’s how we do it: not just talking, but going over and above. Stepping up and rolling our sleeves up.

It’s because we care. Not only about our water but our corner of the country. And we care for our amazing people who make all this possible. Don’t just take our word for it; we’re a Glassdoor Top 50 Company – one of the best employers in the UK right now.

At Severn Trent, we do more, because we care.
