Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for PMC MAC Specialist (Instrumentation) role to support our ADNOC Offshore project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at our client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Job Purpose


Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the integrity, quality, and compliance of all instrumentation engineering deliverables within ADNOC Offshore projects. The role supports the Main Automation Contractor (MAC) scope, ensuring seamless integration, design compliance, and alignment with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and international codes.
Key Responsibilities 1. Engineering & Design Oversight
  • Review and approve instrumentation engineering deliverables including:
    • Instrument datasheets, specifications, loops, and hook-ups
    • Control system architecture and network diagrams
    • Cause & Effect (C&E) charts and logic diagrams
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, IEC, ISA, and international engineering practices
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors and MAC vendors on instrumentation design issues
2. MAC Coordination & Integration
  • Act as the primary PMC focal point for MAC-related instrumentation systems, including:
    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
    • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
    • SCADA and PLC systems
  • Ensure proper integration between process control, safety systems, and third-party packages
  • Review and validate MAC deliverables such as:
    • Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
    • System Architecture Design
    • Interface and communication protocols
3. Technical Assurance & Compliance
  • Verify adherence to ADNOC Offshore design philosophies and project specifications
  • Ensure alignment with HSE requirements and safety integrity levels (SIL)
  • Participate in:
    • Design reviews (30%, 60%, 90%)
    • HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies
  • Ensure cyber security compliance for control systems
4. Vendor & Contractor Management
  • Interface with EPC contractors, MAC vendors, and instrumentation suppliers
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, documents, and technical queries (TQs)
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure timely delivery of instrumentation scope
5. Project Support & Execution
  • Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and installation phases
  • Assist in resolving site technical issues related to instrumentation and control systems
  • Support commissioning activities and factory acceptance tests (FAT) / site acceptance tests (SAT)
6. Documentation & Reporting
  • Ensure proper documentation control and submission tracking
  • Prepare technical reports, review comments, and progress updates
  • Maintain compliance records and engineering logs

Expected

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering
Experience
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas industry
  • At least 5+ years in PMC roles for major offshore projects
  • Strong experience with ADNOC projects or Middle East operators preferred
  • Proven experience working with MAC (Main Automation Contractor) packages
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • DCS (e.g., Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson DeltaV)
    • SIS (e.g., Triconex, HIMA)
    • PLC systems and SCADA
  • Familiar with:
    • SIL classification and functional safety (IEC 61508 / 61511)
    • Industrial networking and communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
  • Expertise in instrumentation design tools and document management systems
Preferred Certifications
  • TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (desirable)
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification (preferred)
