Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Lead Materials Engineer for our ADNOC project in Abu Dhabi within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.


Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based full time at our client office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and will require occasional travel to Spain.

The Role

Lead all materials and corrosion engineering activities for ADNOC PMC projects. Ensure material selection, corrosion mitigation, metallurgy, and asset integrity comply with ADNOC specifications, international standards, and project requirements throughout FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phases.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead the Materials & Corrosion Engineering discipline for PMC projects.
  • Act as the technical authority for material selection and corrosion management.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC Engineering Standards and international codes.
  • Develop and implement materials engineering strategies for project execution.

Engineering Review

  • Review and approve:
    • Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs)
    • Material Requisitions
    • Material Specifications
    • Datasheets
    • Corrosion Studies
    • Metallurgical Reports
    • Vendor Documents
  • Verify material compatibility for:
    • Sour service
    • High-pressure/high-temperature applications
    • Corrosive environments
    • Offshore facilities

Corrosion Engineering

  • Lead corrosion assessments.
  • Review:
    • Corrosion Management Plans
    • Cathodic Protection Systems
    • Coating Specifications
    • Corrosion Monitoring Programs
  • Recommend corrosion mitigation techniques to maximize asset life.

Procurement Support

  • Evaluate vendor technical bids.
  • Review material certifications.
  • Resolve technical queries from suppliers.
  • Support vendor inspections and manufacturing activities.
  • Ensure full material traceability.

Interface Management

Coordinate with:

  • Process Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Piping Engineering
  • Inspection Teams
  • Construction Teams
  • Commissioning Teams
  • ADNOC stakeholders
  • EPC Contractors
  • Licensors and Vendors

Risk & Integrity Management

  • Identify material degradation mechanisms.
  • Perform failure assessments.
  • Participate in:
    • HAZOP
    • HAZID
    • SIL Reviews
    • Design Reviews
  • Recommend solutions to improve plant reliability and lifecycle performance.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • ADNOC Standards
    • ASME
    • ASTM
    • API
    • NACE/AMPP
    • ISO
  • Review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Verify material certificates and QA/QC documentation.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor materials engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables.
  • Support project planning and schedule management.

Expected:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Minimum 15 years of Oil & Gas industry experience.
  • Strong experience in PMC, EPC, FEED, and Detailed Engineering projects.
  • Experience with ADNOC Onshore or Offshore projects is highly preferred.
