Job Description
Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Engineer (Commissioning Electrical) with extensive experience in the oil and Gas industry for ADNOC Onshore client to be based in Abu Dhabi within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business.
Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at onshore site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The Role
Responsible for PMC supervision, technical review, coordination and monitoring of all electrical pre-commissioning, commissioning, energization, start-up and handover activities performed by the EPC Contractor.
The Engineer shall ensure that electrical systems are commissioned safely, efficiently and in accordance with ADNOC requirements, project specifications, approved procedures, HSE requirements and applicable IEC/IEEE/NFPA standards. PMC commissioning roles typically act as th e interface between ADNOC, EPC contractors, vendors, construction and Operations.

- Review and approve EPC Contractor's commissioning philosophy, procedures, method statements, ITPs, check sheets and test packages.
- Review commissioning schedules and ensure alignment with project milestones.
- Monitor Mechanical Completion (MC), Ready for Commissioning (RFC), system/subsystem completion and punch-list closure.
- Supervise and witness electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Review electrical system readiness before energization.
- Coordinate with ADNOC Operations, EPC Contractor, Construction, Engineering, vendors and other disciplines.
- Ensure proper PTW, LOTO, electrical isolation and energization procedures are implemented.
- Review and witness FAT/SAT where applicable and site testing.
Experience should cover commissioning of:
- HV/MV/LV switchgear and substations
- 132 kV / 33 kV / 11 kV / 6.6 kV systems, where applicable
- GIS/AIS switchgear
- Power transformers
- Distribution transformers
- MCCs and PCCs
- Motors and motor control systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Emergency generators
- UPS and battery/charger systems

The Engineer shall monitor/witness:
- Cable continuity and insulation resistance testing
- HV cable testing / VLF or other approved testing methods
- Transformer testing
- Switchgear testing
- Contact resistance testing
- Circuit breaker timing tests
- CT/PT testing
- Protection relay testing and secondary injection
- Functional and interlock testing
- Trip/alarm verification
- Motor rotation and no-load/load testing
- MCC functional testing
- VFD testing
- UPS/battery testing
- Generator testing
- Synchronization testing
- Electrical load tests
- Energization and restoration activities
Electrical commissioning roles commonly include supervision of switchgear, transformers, UPS, MCCs, motors, earthing/lightning systems and relay/cable testing.
- Monitor EPC Contractor performance against approved commissioning plans.
- Review contractor manpower, tools, test equipment and specialist vendor requirements.
- Identify commissioning risks and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Participate in commissioning coordination meetings.
- Monitor daily and weekly commissioning progress.
- Review contractor test records and commissioning dossiers.
- Ensure deficiencies are recorded, tracked and closed.
- Coordinate interfaces between Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Process, Utilities and Operations.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical commissioning problems.
- Escalate critical technical, safety and schedule issues to the PMC Commissioning Lead/Manager.

Expected:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 10 years of experience insimilar role in the oil and gas industry.
- Relevant electrical engineering/commissioning certification is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA and applicable ADNOC/project standards.
- Good understanding of hazardous-area electrical installations and oil & gas facilities.
