EMI Services is hiring a Plumbing GMW to perform basic plumbing, maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and equipment in and around buildings requiring general skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in the plumbing trade. Work involves a variety of the following duties: assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes, studies building plans and working drawings to aid in the completion of general installation and repairs. Has a general knowledge of how water supply networks, waste and drainage systems are installed, repaired and maintained in accordance with established building codes.

This list is not all inclusive and the Plumbing GMW primary responsibilities overall include performing general plumbing maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs on buildings and equipment in in the plumbing trade.

Salary

$22.49/ hr. plus $5.09 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities

• Performs general repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains using specialized equipment (jetter), and may weld holding fixtures to steel structural members
• May bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine, or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand under supervision
• Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipe composed of metal, pvc, fiberglass and vitrified clay
• Joins pipe by use of bolted flanges, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints
• Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine if the system is leaking
• Installs and repairs general plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners under supervision
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Essential Skills

• General experience in maintaining, repairing, installing and operating plumbing systems to include pipes, traps, plumbing fixtures, back flow prevention systems, water and drain lines, pressure vessels and control systems
• General knowledge of building architectural/structural elements including; alterations and repairs
• Inform the Utilities Supervisor of all pertinent problems, irregularities, and other important information within area of responsibility
• General technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills; must have general knowledge using specialized plumbing machines and repair equipment including pro-press, jetter, and soldering techniques.
• Follows verbal instructions and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Adaptable and flexible in work situations.
• Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner.
• PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building and/or utility trades
• Valid DL complaint with REAL ID Act or willing and able to obtain one
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted
• Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking
• Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
• Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
• Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment.
• May spend long hours in awkward positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions.
• May also come in contact with potential poisons and gases that could cause injury or illness.
• Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with sewer and water
