Plumbing Designer

Compensation: $35.00 - $50.00 / hour
Kennedy Mechanical Plumbing and Heating is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Plumbing Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will work closely with project managers, field teams, estimators, and customers to design plumbing systems. The ideal candidate is organized, technically skilled, and passionate about delivering high-quality designs that support efficient project execution.
Responsibilities
· Prepare construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications for various commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential projects
· Assist in the development of design approaches and concepts on assigned projects
· Assist in data collection and/or field verification
· Research building, plumbing and gas codes
· Assist in selection of equipment to fit the project design
· Produce detailed plumbing layouts in Autocad and Revit, based on applicable codes and standards
· Produce plumbing fixtures schedules and rise diagrams
· Produce project-based plumbing drawings and specifications
· Ensure that all drawings are prepared with accuracy, neatness and timeliness (prior to project deadlines)
· Communicate with team members, team leaders, other disciplines, and outside vendors to obtain necessary information for drawings
· Assist with on-site observations during construction and coordinate design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers under the direction of the design manager
· Create and review permit, construction and shop drawings
· Interface with field personnel during construction to assist in resolving any field variance discrepancies
Qualifications
· Experience in plumbing design, mechanical construction, or related field
· Proficiency with AutoCad and/or Revit MEP design software
· General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
· Knowledge of plumbing systems including, but not limited to: sanitary and storm drainage, sanitary venting, domestic water systems, gaseous fuel piping, medical gas and process piping
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills
· Knowledge of building codes, engineering theories and methodologies
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
