Job Description

A long-established, family-owned mechanical contractor providing comprehensive in-house mechanical construction services for commercial projects is seeking a Plumbing Design Engineer / Drafter / Detailer, and help us deliver accurate, coordinated, and constructible plumbing designs for commercial construction projects at our Oakland, California location. You’ll collaborate with project and engineering teams to develop detailed plumbing drawings, models, and shop drawings while supporting projects from design through construction.

Your Day Includes

• Develop and draft plumbing plans, layouts, specifications, and design details.
• Prepare detailed plumbing shop drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Review architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing drawings to identify and resolve conflicts.
• Incorporate design revisions, field conditions, and project changes into drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with clients, engineers, and project teams to resolve design issues and meet deadlines.

Must Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and California Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, construction, and fabrication detailing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with CADmep/CADDMECH or QuickPen is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively.
