This position works under direct supervision and assists the Journeyman and Master Plumber in the installation, alterations, and/or repairs of plumbing systems within the commercial and industrial plumbing industry. This is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems in commercial and industrial setting.
  • Prepare work area for installation of equipment.
  • Install or help install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pipe and pipeline systems.
  • Keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly and properly working fashion and the work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair septic and commercial sewer systems.
  • Understands and complies with safety requirements at all times.
  • Comprehends the language, terms, tools, and skills utilized on the job.
  • Produce quality of work that meets or exceeds project specifications and appropriate trade building codes.
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards completing job while complying with all Company policies.
  • Think ahead as to show how to spend available time for maximum production.
  • Transport tools, equipment and supplies to job site as needed.
  • Attend instructional classes as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of project.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Plumbing- Must obtain and renew annually a State approved Plumbing Apprentice License (must be licensed in TX).
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Required Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Must have a current Drivers License and reliable transportation.
  • Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
  • Must be able to pass drug and background check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong believer in Safety.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of English (ability to read, speak and write) while performing work-related tasks
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
  • Operates two (2) handed tools/equipment, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers
  • Reads and interest maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints, and written instructions; install as specified
  • Operates and works from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)
  • Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of the same
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans
  • Properly uses measuring devices, hand/power tools and equipment to perform plumbing work
  • Possess solid interpersonal and communication skills
  • Analyzes and interprets data and uses good judgment to solve problems and resolve issues
  • Understands and adheres to safe work procedures per Company policy and OSHA guidelines

May work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.

  1. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  2. Lift 51 pounds, routinely. Constantly move about on the feet.
  3. Climb ladders of all types.
  4. Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
  5. Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  6. Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  7. Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  8. Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
  9. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
  10. Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. This position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, this position is often required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
  11. Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
