Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

This role is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining piping systems that support production operations, facility utilities, and building infrastructure. The ideal candidate is experienced in industrial environments, comfortable working with a variety of pipe materials, and able to troubleshoot complex systems with minimal supervision.

OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Installation & Fabrication

• Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems for water, steam, air, gas, and process fluids.
• Cut, thread, weld, and bend pipes using hand and power tools.
• Interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings to plan layout and routing.
• Fabricate pipe supports, brackets, and related components as needed.

Maintenance & Repair

• Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, pressure issues, and equipment failures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing and piping systems to minimize downtime.
• Inspect systems for wear, corrosion, and compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain and repair pumps, valves, regulators, and related components.

Manufacturing Support

• Work closely with production teams to ensure piping systems meet operational needs.
• Support equipment installations, line changes, and facility upgrades.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies to keep operations running smoothly.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all OSHA, facility, and industry safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system changes.
• Participate in safety training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).

Required

• Journeyman-level or progressing towards / pipefitting experience (industrial/manufacturing preferred).
• Strong knowledge of piping materials (steel, copper, PVC, stainless, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with pipe welding, threading, soldering, and brazing.
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, pressure systems, and industrial utilities.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied environments (heights, confined spaces, hot/cold areas).

Preferred

• State plumbing license or pipefitter certification.
• Experience with steam systems, compressed air, and process piping.
• Welding certifications (TIG/MIG/stick).
• Previous work in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk, and move from place to place. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use foot/feet to operate machine, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or reach above shoulders. The employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch.

The employee must exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee may be frequently exposed to allergens and/or airborne particles in the production area. Production employees are exposed to temperatures ranging from 50 to 115 degrees, depending on the season and workstation, and may be working near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.

The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.

Personal Protection Equipment (including boots, gloves, safety glasses, and/or face shields) is required during various processes in the production area. Ear plugs and bump caps are always required in the production area.
