Job Description

Repair facilities, and maintenance relative to plumbing work in all areas of the Company. Inclusive of installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a full range of plumbing systems, and domestic water and drain systems. The core responsibility of the plumber is to install, maintain, and repair complete plumbing systems including air, gas, and vacuum systems. Service, inspect, and repair backflow preventers, sanitary fixtures, and heating units.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Plumber is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Operating power tools, sewer cleaning machines, hand tools, and plumbing equipment.
  • Replacing seals in water closets and clean water filter systems; unclog sinks, toilet, and drains.
  • Maintaining piping and related systems to ensure equipment is in proper working order.
  • Responding to emergency mechanical system calls, including floods.
  • Cutting, welding and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Inspecting and testing plumbing systems for safety.
  • Installing valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial and residential structures.
  • Collaborating with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals.
  • Follow building plans and blueprints.
  • Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies.
  • Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems.
  • Light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, and electrical work as required and keeping an accurate record of materials used.
  • Any other duties assigned by Management.

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work from blueprints, specifications, verbal instruction, or sketches.
  • Ability to receive work order assignments, order materials, and complete tasks accurately.
  • Ability to provide updates on work order status and written comments provided on work orders upon completion.
  • Ability to locate, diagnose, and correct defects and malfunctions on a variety of plumbing systems.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the Bahamas plumbing license and/or established compliance requirements.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Should have at least five (5) years’ work experience in a related field.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be required to work shifts.
