This recruitment will establish an open eligible list that will be used to fill current and future Plumber positions. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

OC Facilities Maintenance ensures efficient and innovative operations of County facilities through maintenance management services. OC Facilities Maintenance employs over 100 full-time employees with an annual operating budget of $5 million. The Service Area is led by a Deputy Director who oversees facilities managers and skilled craft and maintenance personnel, including supervisors, leads, and administrative support positions.
OC Public Works provides services on a regional basis to unincorporated areas, to cities, and to other County agencies and departments. The primary mission of the department is to protect and enrich the community through efficient delivery and maintenance of public works infrastructure, planning, and development services. OC Public Works' core values are integrity, accountability, service and trust.

OC Facilities Maintenance is looking for an experienced Plumber to perform journey-level work installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems throughout our facilities. Plumbers are tasked with supporting a 24/7 operation to maintain service at county facilities, including but not limited to, the County Data Center, Registrar of Voters, OC Parks, and Juvenile Detention Facilities.
Responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
The ideal candidate will possess three (3) or more years of journey-level plumbing experience working in commercial and/or industrial buildings.
In addition, the ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in the following core competencies:
Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to appointment, a valid California Driver License, Class C or higher.
A Certified Backflow Prevention Tester License is preferred, but is not required.

Performance Exam (Weighted 100%)
A performance exam is a test in which applicants demonstrate their knowledge, skills and, ability to performing job related tasks. It is designed to assess how effectively applicants apply their knowledge, skills, and abilities in realistic or simulated scenarios. A panel of job knowledge experts evaluates performance using standardized criteria. Only the most qualified candidates will advance to the next step in the recruitment process or will be placed on the eligible list.

Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
Based on the County's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. All candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.
