Compensation

Salary Range: $31.88 - $47.36 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Responsibilities

The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems throughout Community Memorial Healthcare. This role is essential for maintaining water, drainage, and sewage systems to ensure a safe, sanitary, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • C-36 Plumbing Contractor license from the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB)
  • Five (5) years of experience as a commercial plumber
  • Valid California driver’s license and a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) that is insurable under Community Memorial Healthcare insurance coverage

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a commercial plumber
  • Prior healthcare or hospital plumbing experience
  • Proficient in soldering, brazing, ProPress, cast iron, snaking, jetting, camera inspection, and welding
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Strong understanding of plumbing codes, safety regulations, and infection control procedures
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices specific to healthcare facilities
  • Knowledge of hospital plumbing systems, including water, drainage, sewage, and medical gas systems

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, fixtures, and water-based equipment.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing issues by identifying causes of leaks, clogs, or system malfunctions, and resolving them promptly.
  • Inspect and test plumbing systems for leaks, proper functionality, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure all plumbing installations comply with relevant codes, regulations, and hospital-specific safety protocols.
  • Respond promptly to emergency plumbing calls to minimize disruption to facility operations.
  • Collaborate with the Manager and other engineering staff to schedule preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any required follow-up services.
  • Adhere to hospital infection control and safety protocols, ensuring plumbing repairs do not compromise environmental cleanliness or safety.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained and fully operational.
  • Assist in coordinating and supervising external plumbing contractors as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
